The Chef Manager is responsible for the delivery of a high quality catering service within a busy secondary school or Academy (unit).

This is a ‘hands on role’ which will require you to use your excellent cooking skills together with your management and leadership skills.

Responsibilities will include;
•To plan, direct and manage all unit staff, including any recruitment, identifying training, deliver on-the-job training, probation reviews and first line discipline.
•To take an active role in producing high quality meals throughout the day
•Ensure the unit provides the appropriate delivery of the Food Based Standards including HCL dishes and ensure all members of the unit have a full understanding of, and can encourage customers to make healthy food choices.
•To develop strong working relationships with the Scholl business team and effectively promote the service to drive sales, improving take up of the HCL service on the site.
•Complete relevant stocktaking, ordering and maintaining records, bringing within budget. Be confident in handling cash accurately and working with Smart Card/Biometric System.

The successful applicant will;
•Be an experienced caterer with 706/1 or 706/2 / NVQ in Catering or equivalent experience
•Be comfortable using on-line / electronic stock ordering/preparing monthly bookwork
•Have excellent communication skills
•Have knowledge of and be able to provide good, healthy and nutritious food
•Have the ability to work efficiently and quickly
•Have the ability to lead and be part of a team
•Have high standards of personal hygiene
•Be open to development opportunities in providing an excellent service to the school and HCL and actively update their continued professional development
•Have the ability to communicate fluently with customers, in accurate spoken and written English – this is essential for the post
