Job Description

A Horticulture/Landscape Apprentice is required to undertake training in all aspects of Landscaping.

Main duties involve:
Grass cutting & lawn care
Laying turf
Tree & shrub planting
Hedge cutting & maintenance of shrub beds
Maintenance of planters and herbaceous borders
Sweeping paths & hard standing
Litter picking & other duties associated with amenity landscape areas

Future prospects
The potential for a permanent position on the team on successful completion of the Apprenticeship

Must be prepared to be flexible with hours
You will be working outdoors in all weathers
The employer will only consider someone who is committed to gaining experience and qualifications in order to pursue a career in Horticulture, you must show this on your application
The current National Minimum Wage for an apprentice is £3.50 an hour, rising to £3.70 per hour from 1st April 2018 . This rate applies to apprentices under 19 and those aged 19 or over who are in their first year. Apprentices must be paid at least the minimum wage rate for their age if they are aged 19 or over and have completed their first year. The minimum wage rates are £5.60 an hour for 18-20 year olds and £7.05 for anyone aged 21 and over. Apprentices are paid for their normal working hours and training that’s part of their apprenticeship (usually one day per week)

Training provider
Training will be provided in the workplace through DART Training where you will work towards a Level 2 standard apprenticeship
The Apprenticeship is made up of a number of different nationally recognised qualifications which are as follows:
The qualification is made up of a number of mandatory units designed to have maximum relevance to the job & integrate with the day to day responsibilities
End assessment, conducted by an independent assessor, which include:
Knowledge test (30% of grading)
Personal statement & portfolio of evidence (20% of grading)
Coursework & practical end assessment   5-6 hours (50% of grading)
There will be 3 levels of Pass, Merit & Distinction
Functional Skills in English and Maths if needed
