Job Description
To assist and participate in delivering a service that meets the physical, social and emotional needs of each individual resident in a way that respects the dignity of the individual and promotes their independence.
Key Objectives:
To ensure that all aspects of the regulatory framework are met
Consult with residents and Senior team to assist with the development of person-centred care plans
Work effectively with others to promote a ‘one team’ environment to ensure that residents’ needs are met
Key Tasks and Responsibilities:
To assist in the direct care provision of all aspects of the residents assessed daily living needs – this may include washing, dressing and personal hygiene including continence promotion
Continual monitoring of residents’ health and care needs and communicating effectively with Senior and other relevant staff to ensure that care plans may be regularly up-dated and appropriate care given
To ensure that residents’ choice and independence is respected (in accordance with risk management plans)
Assist residents with mobility problems and other physical disabilities, and in the care, and use of aids and personal equipment
Assist in the promotion of mental and physical activity and health and social/psychological needs
Answer emergency bells promptly and greet visitors in a friendly and courteous way
Provide residents with assistance at mealtimes if required
To change and make beds, tidy rooms, empty commodes
To participate in the key working system
To escort residents to appointments as required
To care sensitively to residents who are unwell or receiving palliative care
To include and encourage residents to be involved in the Home’s activities
Assist as required with the social functions provided by the Home
Support and work closely with families and friends as required
General Duties:
Understand and observe all relevant regulations and company policies and procedures in accordance with the Staff Handbook and Policy and Procedure File
Ensure that all records are kept up to date
To follow the Home’s procedures in the event of accidents and emergencies
To report all Health & Safety concerns
To report and record all repairs and maintenance required
Key Skills :
General Requirements: To be flexible regarding working hours To always be approachable and supportive to staff and managers To attend staff meetings when appropriate and to be available for 1:2:1 supervision as required To attend training and development sessions To maintain confidentiality at all times To be professional at all times in accordance with the Code of Conduct for Healthcare and Adult Social Care Workers To carry out reasonable duties as requested by the Manager To be aware of and comply with safe working practices in accordance with the Health & Safety at Work Act Promote and ensure the good reputation of the Home
