Job Description
Role - Ventilation Engineer
Location - Reading/Basingstoke area
Package - Salary £33,850.00-£50,800.00 per annum plus contributory pension scheme, generous holiday entitlement, additional flexible benefits scheme and excellent work/life balance including 9 day working fortnight.
We are currently looking to recruit a Ventilation Engineer to support the AWE Ventilation Technical Support Group (VTSG) who are responsible for providing ventilation operational support to facilities on the AWE Aldermaston and Burghfield Licenced sites.
As part of the VTSG, the Ventilation Engineer will be responsible for:
- Undertaking of Local Exhaust Ventilation (LEV) Initial Appraisals and Annual Thorough Test and Examinations of numerous systems and arrangements in radiological and other hazardous facilities across the AWE sites in accordance with statutory requirements and company processes and procedures.
- Ensuring that all relevant legislation, standards, procedures and processes are followed in demonstrating legislative compliance associated with LEV workplace control.
- Providing advice and guidance to facilities, projects and stakeholders on all matter of topics associated with LEV arrangements, workplace control, legislation, standards, procedures and processes.
- Undertaking facility visits and walk downs as necessary to gain familiarisation of LEV systems and arrangements and provide advice when issues may arise and/or when modifications are being proposed.
- Managing the in-situ efficiency testing of HEPA filters installed in the various radiological and other hazardous facilities.
- To liaise directly with key facility personnel to gather data, arrange plant walk-downs and verify gathered data and information.
- Undertaking 5 yearly baseline surveys and annual health checks of radiological and toxic ventilation systems.
To be successful in this role you will have:
- Good understanding of Health and Safety, and relevant legislation such as Ionising Radiation Regulations, Control of Substances Hazardous to Health (COSHH) Regulations, Workplace Health, Safety and Welfare Regulations, CDM Regulations, Controlling Airborne Contaminants at Work (HSG258).
- Hold an appropriate qualification in a relevant engineering discipline; ONC/HNC/HND or equivalent or have relevant work experience.
