An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Street Cleansing Operativebased in Aylesbury to join an expanding company.

As an Street Cleansing Operative will include:

Working as part of the wider Street Scene team, the role holder is responsible for the delivery of a safe and efficient street cleansing service.
The role will be responsible for (but not limited to) both programmed and responsive cleansing requirements, including sweeping and litter picking of designated areas of highway, public bin emptying, cleansing of carparks, collection of fly tipped waste and cleansing of Council parks, open spaces and play areas.
The role holder will require good communication skills, combined with a pro-active and flexible approach to duties.
Additional duties include erection/dismantling of market stalls and seasonal work such as gritting activities and leaf clearance.
The jobholder will understand the high level of health and safety risks involved in operational services and will role model good health and safety practices. Employees will participate in and complete all training activities required for the role and will adhere to health and safety Regulations and the Council''s safety rules at all times including the wearing of company issue uniform and Personal Protection Equipment (PPE).
The jobholder will also attend and participate positively in activities such as team meetings and performance review meetings as required.
The Council has a set of defined principles, policies and procedures and the jobholder will work within this policy/procedural framework under close supervision.
The jobholder will have little scope to deviate from detailed work instructions.
Tasks are allocated and monitored on a daily basis.

An ideal Street Cleansing Operative hold the following skills and experiences:

Ability to carry out all duties safely
Willingness and ability to understand and carry out instructions from other team members and supervisors
Able to learn the AVDC Service Standards
Able to be adaptable to ensure a consistent service and high customer service standards
Jobholders will also be expected to suggest improvements to working methods and spot opportunities for commercial or service development and actively pursue these.
Full UK driving license (desirable)
Ensure that the work and role focus supports AVDC''s vision for the Vale and its commercial strategy, by delivering cost effective solutions, profitable products and services, with the customer at the heart.
Act in a commercially minded way in accordance with the council''s behavioural framework and encourage colleagues to behave in this way, challenging inappropriate behaviour where applicable.

The role is very physically demanding and the jobholder will work outdoors in all weather conditions
