We have a great opportunity for a Senior Formulation Chemist / R&D Engineer to join the Technical team at a Manchester based FMCG manufacturing company on a 12-month FTC.

The Senior Formulation Chemist will manage all activities within the Development Laboratory, ensuring all work is complete in adherence to company and H&S standards.

Key responsibilities;

Manage priorities of the department ensuring the highest level of service for internal and external customers
Manage workload of the Junior R&D Engineer and provide ongoing technical support
Develop and manage new formulations, follow development formulation checklist
Organise external testing for formulation development
Lead development of internal methodology to deliver NPD requirements
Maintain regular contact with suppliers to stay abreast of market tendencies
Provide best cost leadership formulas in response to tenders/customization requests
Report progress on all projects
Support site with any production issues, complaints, audits etc

Requirements;

Degree in a Chemistry (or similar Scientific subject)
Laboratory experience - ESSENTIAL
Experience in product development of liquid formulations - preferred
Experience of scientific data analysis and report writing
Strong leadership/supervisor skills; able to effectively manage a Junior Engineer
Excellent communications skills
High attention to detail
Good project management skills
Any experience of SAP - advantageous
