Job Description

Are you a recent science Graduate (or equivalent) looking for your first Lab role? If so then this could be the job for you!

The Laboratory Technician''s main role is to process samples as per Standard Operating Procedures. They must also undertake all relevant sample testing, namely viability and microbiology, to determine the efficacy of the sample, as well as ensuring that the sample is correctly placed in liquid nitrogen tanks for long-term storage.

Duties include:
*To test and process samples in a timely manner and to standards set out by the regulatory authorities
*To work within strict guidelines in our licensed laboratory
*Must be able to work in a compliant laboratory using cleanroom technology
*Must be able to work using extreme aseptic technique, being acutely aware of sterility and contamination
*To undertake all testing and compliance analysis of samples processed to the highest standards
*To undertake validation and on-going assessment of processing samples
*To maintain and review processing procedures to ensure compliance with current legislation
*To maintain (and prove) an active knowledge of current legislation to ensure compliance at all times
*To assist in the maintenance of the company database
*To undertake and provide evidence of CPD in line with legal requirements and to ensure the highest standards are maintained
*To maintain laboratory stock levels for efficient processing of samples in accordance with workload and adjust if necessary
*To ensure environmental monitoring is carried out and that the highest levels of cleanliness are constantly maintained in the laboratory

Working 35 hours per week, over 5 days including some weekends and bank holidays.

Shifts are as follows:-
6am-2pm
8am-4pm
10am-6pm
2pm-10pm

Lab hours at the weekends are 10am-6pm. All shifts are on a rotation basis, with weekends being 1 in every 2 or 3. Lab staff also work some bank holidays (standard pay) but get days off in the week in lieu.

The right candidate will:
Be degree educated or equivalent in a science discipline
May have some previous lab or clean room experience
Be able to think clearly, analyse processes and provide solutions
Be able to work under pressure
Be able to interact with personnel at all levels
Self motivated, dedicated, proactive, logical thinker
Be able to work independently or as part of a team

Own transport desirable due to location and work start / finish times
