Job Description

AWE are currently recruiting for a Structural Engineer who is interested in developing further skills in structural dynamics (seismic, blast or impact).

This role will be to ensure that structural designs are compliant with legislation, standards and requirements associated with engineering design throughout the facility lifecycle.

Location - Reading area

Package - £45,000 - £66,000 + Package + further education/additional qualifications

You will be required to:

  • Provide the definitive AWE interpretation on issues relating to relevant technical area.
  • Elevate areas of concern regarding lack of compliance to the relevant Engineering Manager.
  • Provide the focal point and sign post for advice, information and expertise about policy, best practice and engineering knowledge within relevant technical area.
  • Liaise with other discipline areas to ensure overall design compliance.
  • Assessing competence of Design Engineers in relevant discipline.
  • Use technical knowledge to assist in the achievement of Right First Time design.
  • Review of Design Engineers work.
  • Ensure compliance with Company Assurance Environment, Safety, Health and Quality (ESH&Q) and statutory requirements.

To be successful in this role you should have the following qualifications/skills:

  • Degree qualified - Civil/Structural Engineering
  • Chartered Engineer or equivalent experience
  • Willingness to develop skills in engineering dynamics (blast/seismic/impact) through on-the-job training and further education (MSc/External courses)
  • Experience in the nuclear sector is desirable but not essential
