Property maintenance and building projects represent a sizeable investment, and the income they generate for the City Corporation is vital.
The role
Your building services expertise will be essential to the quality and value of this diverse portfolio. Based in the City Surveyor''s Department you will supervise projects from inception to completion, liaising with everyone from colleagues to external agencies, contractors and consultants. You will prepare feasibility studies and translate client requirements into technical specifications and briefs. You will also monitor the performance of consultants and contractors and carry out site inspection of works in progress to ensure compliance with building regulations.
About you
A qualified engineer, you have practical expertise in heating, ventilation, lighting, alarm systems and other building services, including a working knowledge of CDM 2015 regulations. You must also have the ability to play an influential role in contract negotiations. Your analytical and problem-solving skills will be matched by proficiency in Microsoft Project and specialist design and research engineering packages. Strong communication skills are essential.
