The Chamber is a private sector, not for profit company with a turnover of £5m and 115 staff.
St Helens Chamber is one of the most successful and influential Chambers, with the highest business involvement rate in the UK. We represent the views and meet the needs of our 1100 business Members.
The Chamber delivers significant publicly funded contracts for training and business support, including directly training over 600 Apprentices each year and operating as the Growth Hub for St Helens.
Our long-standing Chief Executive retires this Summer, and we are seeking an experienced and inspirational individual to lead our highly successful business.
The Chief Executive reports to a Board of Directors, including representatives of our Business Membership and local partners.
You will have demonstrated an ability to lead a high-performing team and position the organisation to maintain and further develop its excellent reputation, track record and performance. The ideal candidate will have experience within a membership organisation; business support provider and/or training provider.
You will be confident in developing and implementing strategies and business plans and be able to identify and secure funds for the Chamber to develop the range of services it delivers.
Candidates will need to be educated to degree level ideally in a business related subject. A full driving license and use of a vehicle are essential for this role.
Job Purpose:
* Develop and deliver strategies to support our Members and enhance the economic success of St Helens businesses and people.
* Produce and deliver the Strategic Plan and annual budget.
* Direct and manage St Helens Chamber resources.
* Determine and progress continuous improvement to ensure future sustainability
* Promote good community, partnership and Member client relations.
Main Duties:
1. Develop a strategy that ensures the capability of the business to meet the needs of customers.
2. Produce a rolling three year Strategic Plan for Board approval, incorporating detailed corporate and financial objectives.
3. Ensure Board agendas and communication documents are prepared and fit for purpose, providing sufficient information for the Board to fulfil its role.
4. Establish and maintain appropriate economic development and other partnership arrangements to ensure delivery of the Strategic Plan.
5. Ensure the delivery of all services and contractual arrangements required by Members and funding bodies.
6. Provide leadership, management and motivation for the Chamber through the direct management of the senior team.
7. Manage, support and develop Chamber staff, ensuring that Performance Management Reviews are carried out within the agreed timetable.
8. Represent the views of Member companies and other customers through membership of appropriate Boards and Committees at local, regional and national level.
9. Represent the Chamber at a range of meetings, presentations, public and social events, aimed at raising the Chamber''s profile and promoting the Chamber''s products and services.
10. Ensure that St Helens Chamber maintains relevant accreditations and quality standards e.g. ISO 9001;2015, IIP Gold, BCC Accreditation, Ofsted and Matrix.
11. Have overall responsibility for Heath and Safety across the Chamber.
12. Undertake Membership Management activities and promote Chamber Membership.
