Chief Officer / Chief Probation Officer - Interventions

Dorset, Devon and Cornwall Community Rehabilitation Division (DDC) is part of Kent, Surrey and Sussex Community Rehabilitation Company (KSSCRC) who are part of the Seetec Justice Division, providing a broad range of probation services for adult offenders on community orders or licenses. We focus on quality of practice to reduce re-offending, improve the safety of the communities we serve and improve the life chances of those within the Dorset, Devon and Cornwall (DDC) criminal justice system.

The role of the Chief Officer / Chief Probation Officer for Interventions is to lead the development and delivery of Kent, Surrey and Sussex Community Rehabilitation Company''s interventions, improving outcomes for service users through evidence led practices, whilst maximising productivity. Implement the CRC''s medium and short-term plans, whilst building delivery for the future. Lead, inspire and manage relationships on behalf of the CRC to employees, Government, the public and other key stakeholders.

This Chief Officer / Chief Probation Officer is a member of the Justice Executive Board. The Board provides CRC wide leadership and strategic governance.

Key Responsibilities

• As a member of the Leadership Team contribute to the strategic leadership and management of people operations and provide inspirational leadership. Whilst also being collectively accountable for the delivery of all operations.
• To develop and deliver an annual Functional Service Plan and contribute to the production and delivery of the KSS CRC Annual Service Plan making sure significant tangible improvements in the quality of services are delivered.
• Contribute to the strategic planning and setting of CRC business objectives and performance targets and ensuring plans are effectively delivered to agreed outcomes
• Accountable for the CRC''s performance against service assurance metrics allocated to the function and provide regular updates on areas of operational responsibility to the Justice Executive Board.
• To lead and direct the development and implementation of service delivery strategies, plans and budgets which achieve contractual outcomes through effective and efficient services that meet legislative required and company policies and financial regulations.
• Develop a culture which provides consistent and effective professional standards for interventions ensuring the assessment and management of risk is maintained without increasing operational or reputational risk.
• Work in collaboration with the Excellence & Effectiveness Directorate to deliver Improvement Plans that met our quality standards.
• In collaboration with a HR Business Partner develop and deliver the CRC''s workforce planning objectives for Operations ensuring that appropriate resourcing across the business.
• Build and maintain effective relationships with external partners and represent KSS CRC at strategic meetings including statutory boards to enhance effective working relationships with colleagues, staff and other agencies/stakeholders.
• To ensure that appropriate mechanisms and protocols are in place for safe operations of CRC services and compliance with H&S legislation.
• Develop and analyse appropriate management information to inform decision making and identify improvements to service strategy. Considering service wide strategies for continual service improvement, liaising with relevant agencies /organisations as appropriate.
• Promote and actively participate to the work of national/regional groups and represent KSS CRC in appropriate forums.
• Develop and advise on implementation of lead policy areas across KSS CRC.
• Ensure that strategies are established for lead responsibilities and are developed and implemented throughout the area; undertake operational responsibility for their implementation in the function.
