Job Description

Specific Responsibilities & Objectives:

* Be able to demonstrate a thorough knowledge and understanding of all current specifications. Ensure that these are being achieved with the maximum possible commercial advantage to the Company by exercising management control coupled with a commercial working knowledge of comparative values and cost implications of products processed in your department.

* Deliver a comprehensive due diligence system comprising of sampling, audits, and certificates to comply with our minimum legal requirements - at least an annual documented review of compliance vs. plan

* Attend all purchasing meetings sharing the sites KPI information and key performance targets for suppliers

* Ensure that you have a complete and thorough knowledge of the budget within your department and report any variance against these standards, on a weekly basis to your senior manager, coupled with an explanation of action taken to eliminate adverse variances.

* Participate actively in regular quality review meetings with key suppliers to raise issues and drive the quality ethic strongly. Monitor the KPIs to drive zero defect philosophy

* Support investigation in complaint trends and implement preventive action to reduce/eliminate issues

* Drive the supplier agenda to deliver improved Quality performance into resulting in a reduction in supplier quality related issues

* Maintain absenteeism levels within your department at or below 3%

* Identify training needs within your department on a periodic basis and ensure that a training plan, including agreed timescales for implementation is maintained on a regular basis.

* In conjunction with other managers associated with the processes in your department conduct a formal period review of your department''s performance against standard, personnel issues including labour turnover, absenteeism, training, morale, and general staff welfare.

* In conjunction with other managers associated with the processes in your department conduct a formal period review to prepare a forward plan for your department describing the way in which you will help to meet future objectives of the Company as defined by the General Manager.

* Ensure that all staff within your department are well informed about the activity of the Company and any other information that the Company may wish to communicate from time to time through a formal staff briefing procedure.

* Ensure that any documented non-conformances relating to product safety, quality and legality are investigated and corrective action put in place as appropriate and within any defined time scale.

* The jobholder must ensure that adequate provision has been made to provide cover in times of absence.

* In addition to the duties and responsibilities listed, the jobholder is required to perform other duties assigned by the Line Manager. However, such other duties will be reasonable in relation to the employee''s skills and abilities
