Progression Press Operator

A leading International manufacturing company is seeking a Progression Press Operator based in Telford to join its expanding team. You will receive 21 days holiday (could be taken in hourly slots) plus statutory days, a health care package, access to onsite parking, a pension and will be issued uniform.

The company have been well established in Telford for over 20 years and supply pressings, fabrication and welded assembly parts to the automotive sector.

As the Press Operator, your duties will include:

Perform all tasks involved in stamping parts using progressive press operations.

Select and load correct steel into position inside press bed before beginning.

Position guides, stops, holding blocks, or other fixtures to secure and direct stamping steel and work pieces, using hand tools and measuring devices.

Start and stop progression press, monitor its operation, and record operational data.

Examine completed work pieces for defects, such as concentricity, chipped edges or marred surfaces; sort and record findings from inspection.

Move containers of completed parts to designated storage area, and move containers of material scrap to recycling area.

Observe all safety requirement associated with stamping press and work area.

Maintain a clean and tidy work area and follow good housekeeping processes.

To be a successful Press Operator you will have the following skills and experience:

Previous experience in a similar role and or machine operating experience.

Basic understanding of engineering drawings and able to interpret work instructions, procedures and manuals

Ability to set and operate a Press is preferred however training could be provided for the right candidate.

The initial hours for training will be Monday to Thursday 8am-4.35pm Friday 8am-1pm

The training rate will be £8.85 per hour on Days, rising once moved on to the rotating double day shift pattern.

The working hours are Monday to Friday rotating shift patterns 6am-2pm/2pm-10pm (Friday PM shift hours are 12.30pm-7pm)

In return the successful candidate will receive a starting salary of between £10.62 and £11.45 per hour inclusive of shift allowance, depending on experience - Over Time will be paid at a premium rate of time and one third in the week and time and one half on a Saturday.
