The company that we are recruiting for requires a highly motivated Managing Director who will ideally come from a distribution/engineering background that has an entrepreneurial spirit and is looking to dictate their own career path within a company that will help them realise their full potential within this fast paced, challenging and dynamic business.

Skills required from the successful candidate:

* Strong communication skills

* Will be required to measure all areas of the service centres activities by working with and through all members of staff from the sales team to warehouse staff

* Implement and measure strategies to urgently return any underperforming areas to required levels of performance

* Leadership abilities

* Will have autonomy over the service centre and will lead, develop and motivate a competent local team and inspire high performance through strong, consistent leadership.

* Ability to identify new business opportunities

* Take a detailed interest in all key customers and targets, ensuring proactive customer contacts are of a high standard and are adequately recorded on the companies CRM system

* Set and work to an agreed sales plan with the sales team whilst implementing measurements and targets for ongoing levels of proactive customer contact by monitoring activity and shaping strategy

* Continually develop the customer base to provide long term growth

* Strong organisational skills

* Have a secure knowledge of finance and be able to implement changes to the service centre where required

* Implement procedures into the company for all aspects of stock control and management

* Commercially aware

* Having a broad knowledge of ferrous and non-ferrous metals in standard and special grades and forms is an advantage but not essential

* Monitor the key components of the service centre''s return on investment on a monthly basis and identify areas for improvement

* Key Words

* The ideal candidate would be a natural leader, confident, self-starter, a team player, proactive, have honesty and integrity, be influential, accurate, a creative thinker, a good negotiator and will be ambitious.

Examples of your day-to-day role:

You would have autonomy over the depot and will report directly to the Chairman carrying out daily duties which include:

* Managing the day-to-day operations of the service centre

* Recruiting and mentoring staff

* Playing an active part of the sales team as and when required

* Maximising growth and profitability of the service centre by analysing turnover and profitability

* Ensuring that high levels of service are maintained by all members of staff

* Hitting monthly/yearly individual and team targets

* Holding team meetings

* Managing a customer base and developing plans to increase business

* Managing stock levels

* Monitoring health and safety withing the service centre

* Negotiating with suppliers

* Liaise with customers to make sure they are satisfied with the service centres performance
