Baseline Recruit is working with a fantastic retail business in the UK in recruiting an Interim Import-Export Project Manager ASAP.

This position is a pivotal role within the company and could be extended beyond the initial 6 months.
Ideally based in the Midlands, this role will involve regular travel to other sites across the UK depending on the business need. The flexibility to work at home will also be an option.

Reporting to the Head of Supply Chain and Logistics, this role will work fairly autonomously but interface with the Supply Chain team as a whole.

Key duties include:

Managing the end-to end import-export journey and process

Customs tariffs / Commodity Code Management

Import management from Middle East, Far East and Europe and Exporting to the EU

Full involvement in VAT & EU trade topics

Provide Customs, Import and Export control expertise to the business

Provide operational trade compliance support for set up periods with business operations at their various locations

Risk assessment strategy across all import or export trade compliance components associated to cross-border business activities.

Ensure all significant supply chain incidents related to import or export trade compliance are dealt with and escalated as required

Ensure all movement of goods in and out of the UK comply with post-Brexit regulations

Management of 3rd party shipping and freight relationships.

Proactively sourcing competitive shipping rates and negotiating more cost efficient rates.

In order to be considered for this role you will have:

Demonstrable experience in Import and Export management including EU, Far-East and Middle East

Up to date sound knowledge of EU trade compliance and rules

Proven negotiation skills and solid relationship management capabilities

Significant experience in Import and Export Brexit regulations and trade compliance
