Operations Manager - Freight

Our client is a well-established Freight Forwarding company based in South Manchester. With a strong logistics operation and an extensive worldwide agency network, including an owned handling office in Spain, which enables them to offer a wide range of freight forwarding services.

They now have exciting opportunity at there office in South Manchester for a Freight Forwarding Operations Manager This is an operational role managing a team of 12 freight operators

Main responsibilities
* Manage day-to-day supervision of the team (both working on site and remote)
* Ensure all the work within the department is covered and that all steps required are taken
* Ensure the integrity of all system data under Ops Dept control
* Manage the charging out of the operational files and working with the finance team to ensure an effective and efficient period end (quarterly)
* Assist the finance team with queries relating to both purchases and sales
* Monitor, develop, appraise staff performance throughout the department
* Assess, manage and adjust team member workloads
* Training and development of staff
* Maintain and create effective, strong relationships with our suppliers and agents
* Create and improve processes and practices throughout the Ops department
* Identify IT improvements and working with other departments to put those improvements in place

Shared responsibilities (assisting Operations director)
* Drive towards greater operational effectiveness
* Improve cooperation with the other teams/departments in the company
* Create, maintain, improve Operational manuals and guides
* Create, maintain, improve and monitor targets, KPI''s, etc
* Analyse customer accounts and assess operational needs
* Maintain and improve customer relationships
* Be a general escalation points for all current, structural and process problems

You will be capable of showing initiative and driving the business forward.

You must have managed or supervised a freight forwarding team, you must be driven and have excellent freight forwarding experience to apply for this role.

Salary: £40,000.00-£45,000.00 per year
