Job Description
RLE International is working on behalf of their Cranfield, Bedfordshire based Client, whom are currently looking for a Design Principle Engineer to support and join their expanding team

Design Principle Engineer
Development of vehicle wiring harnesses and other electrical components to design/test standards.
Managing Tier 1 suppliers to deliver products to QCT. (Quality, Cost, Timing)
Managing in house and supplier validation of components
Support Production trials
Design concern management: root cause analysis, countermeasure implementation, validation and agreement with Test & Production Engineering.
Cost reduction idea generation and implementation
Part Design Quality improvement in response to market or plant issues.
Deliverables:
Support Departmental Cost Reduction Targets and report status weekly
Support Departmental Quality Targets
Complete Design Release on time as per Project Milestones
Qualifications/experience
Have relevant experience in automotive electrical and electronic development, completing a minimum of one vehicle development, or be able to demonstrate equivalent experience, e.g. in aerospace.
Understand electrical theory and the operation of vehicle electrical systems.
Electrical system circuit design experience.
Harness layout experience.
Application experience (design & issue of parts within OEM release/BOM system to meet vehicle specifications).
Knowledge of harness, plastic part & metal bracket manufacture to manage Tier 1 supplier.
Knowledge of 3D CAD viewing tools
To be able to travel both within the UK and abroad, typically for a few days to 2 weeks, but on rare occasions could be longer.
Full driving licence
Competent with PC applications. MS office suite …etc
When not on business trip, to work from Client Site and be onsite during the core hours
Have good communication skills
Self motivating and self managing. Pro-active. Positive. Energetic personality and flexible regarding working practice and working hours

• Working from home until it is safe to return to the office - Based in Cranfield, Bedfordshire
• Free on-site parking
• £27.50 per hour PAYE, Paid overtime at 1.5 x hourly PAYE rate (£41.25)
• Subsidised on-site restaurant
• Working hours Mon-Thurs 8am-5pm,
• Fri 8am-1:20pm
