Job Description

Due to the award of new projects, a leading R&D group has a new vacancy for a Principal Additive Manufacturing Engineer to join the team. Working on a number of innovative projects focusing on future technologies you will be responsible providing engineering expertise in the design, development and validation of new additive manufacturing techniques.
Commutable from: Cardiff, Bristol, Filton, Abergavenny, Caerphilly, Chepstow, Newport, Bridgend, Monmouth.
Salary: £ 45,000 - £ 55,000 p.a. + excellent benefits
Suitable for: Lead Manufacturing Engineer, Mechanical Engineer, Senior Engineer, Manufacturing Engineer, Principal Engineer.
The Role
Working for one of the UK''s leading research and development groups you will be working on a number of innovative programmes to develop new additive manufacturing techniques.
Key responsibilities:
Provide engineering expertise in the design, development and validation of new additive manufacturing techniques.
Setup, manage, and maintain operation of metal and ceramic additive manufacturing machines
Generate detailed design concepts based on engineering principles, utilising 3D CAD to create models, assemblies, and component drawings
Propose, design and conduct design of experiments activities to down select options for process variables.
Work with key stakeholders across the business to solve complex problems.
Contribution to concept & idea development by research into new technologies, processes, and materials.
Project management for technology development projects.
The candidate
Extensive experience with additive manufacturing process and materials- Metal and ceramic printing and associated processes.
Proficient skills within 3D design SolidWorks (preferred) and ideally the ability to use tools such as DFMEA.
A degree in a related engineering or scientific field (Mechanical/Materials/Process Engineering).
Excellent teamwork and communication skills.
Strong problem-solving skills, including the ability to quickly understand complex issues and to propose solutions.
