Job description
HMRC is the UK Customs authority. Customs & Border Design Directorate is responsible for Customs policy, systems, procedures and legislation, compilation and dissemination of the UK''s trade statistics, and international relations.

Customs & Border Design Directorate (C&BD) staff work closely with both policy partners across wider HMRC and operational delivery colleagues in HMRC and Border Force to supervise, regulate and facilitate international trade.

The quality of Customs and Border Design work relies on very much that we understand how important it is to value and nurture integrity. Customs and tax professionalism sit at the heart of everything we do.

For us that encompasses policy, processes, systems, operations and legislation, as we support the specialists across each of these fields within the Directorate.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Business Support Officer role within Customs and Border Design Business Management Unit. This is a key role supporting Corporate Senior Leadership Team and the wider Private Office network. This is a challenging and fast paced role, but also an exciting and rewarding one.

This is a busy post in a high-profile area where the successful applicant will be encouraged to work well under pressure and be a self-starter who will take the initiative. The jobholder must be flexible, proactive, demonstrate good decision making, personal integrity and operate in a confidential manner, often to tight deadlines.

The BMU supports both the Directorate and Director''s Private office to ensure the Director and HMRC''s priorities are driven forward and time is arranged most optimally. You will need to develop positive relationships with stakeholders and officials across the Department and across the Private Offices as well as wider Government.
