Job Description

We are working with a global, high-end consulting and engineering provider who are searching for a capable Principal Ecologist to join their established team in the South.

The client is proud of providing a collaborative environment that supports individual performance, innovation, and creativity. They have ambitious plans to expand their presence due to the ongoing success of the company. As a Principal Ecologist at this multi-disciplinary consultancy, you will be proactive in developing relationships with colleagues from across the business, liaising with other teams on a regular basis and supporting them through all stages of a project.

There are some exciting, high-profile projects across the South for you to lead on. These include bat surveys for historic buildings, surveys and management plans for wintering wildfowl and waders, plus HRA and EcIA within an SAC/SPA for a habitat restoration project. Due to the wide range of projects, you will need to be confident in your field skills and be able to adapt your technical knowledge to client and project requirements. This is an excellent opportunity to develop and diversify your expertise in HRA, EcIA, Biodiversity Net Gain, Nutrient Neutrality and EPS (particularly bats). As a Principal Ecologist, you will be responsible for budget control, health & safety management and technical report quality.

You will benefit from flexible, hybrid working. Allowing you to choose where, how and when you work, albeit you can still provide high quality services to the client. There is a possibility to work compressed hours and discuss flexible start/finish times. The nature of the role would require site work and some time in an office to enable you to work closely with the regional lead.

Other benefits include car allowance, minimised time away from home, bat handling licence incentivisation, financial bonus for achieving Chartered Environmentalist/Ecologist status through CIEEM.

If you are a Principal Ecologist or an experienced Senior Ecologist looking to develop your career further, please get in touch with Carmen Hatton, on (phone number removed) or email
