Job Description

Smart Metering is of huge importance for a client in the future - it has the potential to fundamentally transform the relationship between customers and their use of water, and to significantly enhance their experience of with our client. Smart metering is an innovative way to support our clients'' environmental goals, to build a resilient water future, support leakage targets, protect the environment and lower carbon emissions by using water more efficiently.

The Smart Metering programme will identify, procure and deploy Smart Meters over the next few years to extend installed based from 88%-92% of homes across the South East of England. In the medium term, the programme will develop the business case for submission to Ofwat as part of the price review process and plan the development of the broader replacement of all existing meters, and establishing the complex data management capabilities that will be at the heart of the capability, providing insight to customers and our operations.

Responsibilities

As the Smart Metering Programme Lead, you will work at a programme director level and have overall responsibility for overseeing the delivery of the smart metering programme. Managing a team of 6 initially, you will build and maintain good working relationships with senior stakeholders across the business as well as a range of 3rd parties to deliver this complex initiative.

Being commercially minded and working closely with procurement colleagues, it is essential for you to deliver the tendering and contracting processes with a range of asset and service providers to ensure they provide value for money over the long term.

You will oversee the integrated programme plan & RAID, working closely with workstream delivery leads and other business programmes to build an understanding of interdependencies and ensure joined up thinking and manage decisions on deployment of allocated budget to meet commitments, liaising with senior stakeholders and finance colleagues to ensure support and alignment with internal procedures.

You will use your excellent programme management experience within major complex projects to own the overall delivery plan to meet metering commitments, increase the number of metered properties from 88-92%, using AMI-ready Smart meters and develop a robust business case and evidence base for mass Smart rollout.

Qualifications

You will have experience of smart metering programmes as well as previous work experience within utilities being highly desirable.
