Job Role: Business Development Manager

Location: St Albans

Salary: £60,000 plus commission (OTE £70K-£80K)

RG Freight Recruitment are working on behalf of a very well established UK forwarder based in St Albans to recruit an experienced Business Development Manager.

This client is a specialist in European road freight movements to the UK and European manufacturer market. With over clients covering a broad range of sectors, they have a proven track record of developing bespoke forwarding solutions to provide a total freight service.

A real forward thinking company, they are have been operating for over 40 years and have prospered during that time by striving to provide excellent service and results on every delivery.

Due to expansion, a role has opened for an Business Development Manager to join the team in their new St Albans office. The successful candidate will be responsible for proactively developing new business and build and nurture existing client relationships to maximise the sales potential.

Key duties and responsibilities

Existing client development, maximising the business potential.

Identifying potential new business market sectors for Sealane.

Helping to design and produce specific Customs focused presentations tailored to client s needs.

Targeting relevant Logistics Managers/Supply Chain Managers.

New business sales canvassing for volume export or import traffics.

Preparing presentations and quotes for new business.

Visiting prospective clients in the UK and in Europe.

Account management will be required for specific clients.

Opening credit accounts for new clients.

Helping to manage a small but dynamic sales team.

Helping the Operations team to solve commercial problems.

The Person

Sales experience at a senior level negotiating new business opportunities.

Excellent communication skills, and telephone manner.

The ability to make structured and effective cold calls from start to closure.

Confident face to face communication skills.

Strong organisational and administrative skills.

IT and computer literate.

Strong tenacity and work ethic.

Team player.

Language (French or German) an advantage but not essential
