We have exciting opportunities for the Head of Engineering to join our team at Lucketts Travel, Fareham. You will be an integral member of the Region''s Leadership Team with responsibility for devising and implementing the engineering business plan across the region''s engineering maintenance function.
In this role you will lead engineering service delivery across the region to ensure that all engineering teams meet the company KPIs on an ongoing basis. You will also ensure each of the region''s workshop units is managed within its agreed financial budget and work closely with the Regional Managing Director and the Head of Operations to ensure delivery of a reliable, high quality fleet whilst continually improving the effectiveness of the workshop engineering functions and owning the region''s Engineering Health and Safety Action Plan.
What you''ll do...
Lead the region''s Engineering/Workshop Managers and their teams to ensure that vehicle maintenance and repair standards are met and maintained in a consistent manner in line with company policies and procedures.
Reduce the amount of vehicle down time to a minimum within budgetary restraints and to seek to continually improve fleet reliability & availability across the region, thereby maximising fleet utilisation and minimising lost revenue.
Provide support to Engineering/Workshop Managers when deficiencies are identified.
Devise and implement appropriate action plans as and when required, in order to improve overall Engineering standards and service delivery.
Work in accordance with the overall Engineering strategy within National Express to identify and implement best practice'' across the regional engineering function to ensure continual improvements in productivity, effectiveness and value for money.
Implement appropriate systems and measures to identify regular issues/defects with vehicles or parts. Arrange for these to be investigated and resolved whilst ensuring costs to the business are minimised.
Ensure budgetary controls are in place, being managed and escalated in accordance with agreed parameters.
Develop an effective recruitment and retention strategy across the region''s engineering function.
What you will need...
Excellent understanding and experience of the road passenger transport sector with particular emphasis on the engineering function, including all relevant legal and external regulations and requirements
Excellent working knowledge of all daily workshop engineering procedures, including all current processes and procedures, health and safety regulations and legal obligations
Appreciation of the needs of the region''s operational functions and the ability to identify areas for improvement within Engineering and then formulate/implement effective action plans
CPC (National Certificate of Professional Competence for Bus and Coach Operations)
Flexible approach to working hours - able to work out-of-hours for meetings or operational requirements.
Regularly review and evaluate manufacturers innovations to ensure the region is at the forefront of technology use.
