Job Description
Jackson Hogg Supply Chain division are delighted to be partnering with our client, a leading manufacturing organisation in Gateshead, on the appointment of a Buyer to join their Purchasing team.
This is a full time and permanent role offering £(phone number removed) per annum DOE.
The Role
Negotiate the purchase of materials, equipment and services required by the company, ensuring that these meet specifications and can be delivered at the correct time and most favourable price.
Report any significant supply problems to relevant department to ensure relevant personnel are kept aware of any potential issues.
Identify, implement and track cost savings to meet annual target for each project.
Able to present to a team of internal and external Stakeholders
Action daily MRP messages to reflect latest schedule demand, whilst also ensuring that the system is maintained to reflect current pricing
Ensure that ASL (Approved Supplier Listing) is maintained, where necessary identify potential new sources of supply.
Monitor and maintain supplier relationships and performance
Person Specification
Engineering/Manufacturing background
Experience in a direct purchasing role
CIPS or working towards would be desirable but not essential
Negotiation skills
Demonstrable cost saving initiatives
Ability to read engineering drawings
