Job Description

  • Leatherhead - SEN

This primary school is designed to meet and support the needs of pupils working below peers of a similar age. They will have additional barriers to learning, such as autism, medical issues or speech, language and communication needs.Students'' behaviour is outstanding. Students are very happy to come to school. This is evident as they arrive each morning looking smart and greeting staff politely. It is also evident in their rising attendance, which is comparable to mainstream secondary schools and well above that found in most special schools (Ofsted, 2022)

Chertsey - SEN

An amazing and energetic Special Needs School with places for 150 pupils aged 11-19. Based just off the M25 in Chertsey, the school meets the needs of young people with a range of Learning and Additional Needs. They want ALL pupils to develop the confidence, skills and values needed to live as happily and independently as possible; contributing to society as respectful citizens with a strong sense of belonging to their community.

Addlestone - Mainstream

A school that firmly believes every student can be better than they ever thought they could be in all aspects of their lives. A school where the whole school community is valued and work together as a team to ensure that everyone is ''inspired to achieve''. As a large, mixed, comprehensive school they provide an innovative education for students from Year 7 to 13 leading to the achievement of excellent results.

Camberley - Mainstream A highly successful school that is very popular with families and their children who make excellent progress, whatever their starting points. They are committed to providing a happy and caring environment in which each student is able to realise his or her potential and develop into successful adults. It has a strong tradition of academic excellence - this was evident in their GCSE results this year, with 79% of our students achieving the new standard pass 4-9 in English and Maths and 24% of all entries achieving grades 7-9. They have high expectations and as a result behaviour is excellent, allowing staff and students to focus on learning. All their students have their own iPad to support independent learning and add extra quality to learning at school or at home.

What is involved:

  • Providing assistance and supervision for children''s behaviour during the school day
  • Assisting children to understand and participate in class
  • Assisting with note taking while supporting literacy and numeracy
  • Working with a class, a small group or individual learners
  • Encouraging the development of social skills and supporting students'' individual needs
  • Helping to build confidence and motivation
  • Participating in team meetings and training programmes as an active member of a team
  • Supporting regulations pertaining to safeguarding

What is required:

  • Experience working with vulnerable children is highly desirable, but not essential
  • Good general education levels in English and Maths
  • A co-operative working style and practical approach to solving problems
  • Good interpersonal and communication skill and a caring attitude
